March 2024

I realize that last month I encouraged you to “stop saying yes to shit you hate,” an approach I’m channeling from Peloton’s Robin Arzon. And yet, here I am ready to share with you something that I did recently that pre-2023 Ronna would have for sure hated (I started taking on uncomfortable challenges last year). I said yes, tried it, and I didn’t hate it! Actually, I loved it!

Before my big reveal, I’d like to share some reflections on my personal journey to becoming a business owner and entrepreneur.

  • Pushing outside your comfort zone to try new things and challenge yourself can be incredibly scary. And incredibly rewarding, too.

  • When I realized how useful Workflows could be to other nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals, I also realized that I’d have to take some risks and make myself vulnerable to see if other people recognized the value of my proposition. (Thankful to my clients who already have!)

  • When you take the leap and work with me, you’re doing both of these things. I realize that. I’ll meet you where you are relative to your comfort zone in organizing your job or life, and I’ll encourage you to be vulnerable.

  • And to channel more from my Peloton community: When you work with me, it’s a no-judgment zone.

And, so, I ask you to celebrate with me my willingness to push way outside my comfort zone, to be vulnerable, and to say yes to something that somewhat terrifies me. Check out this conversation I had with Amy Alexander of A2 Sales & Marketing.

Yes, I was the subject of an interview, on camera, answering questions about myself and my business. (Ok, the answering questions part wasn’t that scary because I know myself pretty darn well, and I’m passionate about my business.)

Let me say this: No one who knows me would expect to find me here, and yet, I did it!

Of course I learned a few things along the way:

  • Being outside your comfort zone is WAY easier with someone supportive like Amy. She’s fun and easy, and she eased me right into the interview. (Hint: I’ll do the same for you when we brainstorm your Workflow needs.)

  • I can do scary things. I stand by making more room in your life by saying no sometimes, but I encourage you all to do something scary. It will flame your fire for whatever passion fuels you.

This conversation did that for me. Please take a little time and take a look.

My Favorite Things

Being reflective can be so productive. Look at me, talking about productivity again. It’s true – we can learn a lot about ourselves when we see where we’ve come from or what we were thinking.

That’s where my favorite thing this month comes into play because I wouldn’t be me without having an organized way to be reflective, right? A journal, of course, but this is a one-sentence five-year journal.

Each day, you write one sentence in the journal. Then, after a year, you circle back to do it again and can see what you wrote the year(s) before on the same day. It really highlights things that may have been challenging that eased up, and it proves that most things are temporary. It’s really an incredible tool to reflect on life’s highs and lows.

I’ve been doing this since 2014 in this Gretchen Rubin one-sentence journal, so I’m on my third book, and I write in it every night. This one is also a great option.

What I’m Thinking About

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about ways to save myself and my clients time and energy.

Are there certain emails that you send out often? Wouldn’t it be nice to make those particular emails no-brainers, saving you time and energy? The simplest solution is a template. Templates are a great tool!

All you need to do is create a template for frequently sent emails. Save it in an email folder called “Templates,” and it’s there to personalize and send without having to re-craft it or risk making an error. Yes, label the folder that clearly and that simply. Make sure the subject line is clear, concise and simple, too. Another tip: Put an asterisk before “Templates,” and it will appear at the top of your email folders, making it very easy to find.
